Professional Background

Greg has substantial tax and legal experience.  Before joining CharterLaw Legal on 1 March 2021 as a Director and senior tax consultant, Greg had been the principal of Vale Legal, a boutique specialist taxation legal practice in Sydney, a founding solicitor director of Binetter Vale Lawyers, a solicitor director with Kevin Munro & Associates and had worked at a second tier accounting firm BDO Nelson Parkhill in their taxation advisory section.

Professional Qualifications and expertise

Greg holds Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Finance).  He is a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and a FTIA with the Taxation Institute of Australia and a member of the Law Society of New South Wales.
He is an accredited specialist in Business and Personal Tax as accredited by the Specialist Accreditation Board of the Law Society of New South Wales.

Greg’s areas of expertise include

  • business structures,
  • superannuation and
  • estate planning.

Greg has very strong experience in advising property developers and investors in appropriate land holding structures to minimise unnecessary stamp duty costs and the possible untimely derivation of development profits. Greg also has strong recent experience in advising and acting for start-up technology companies in fund-raising, R & D tax incentives, employee share schemes and start up tax incentives.

Current Practice

Greg provides advice to clients, particularly professional firms and their clients, in respect of business restructuring, federal taxes (including income tax, capital gains tax and goods and services tax), state taxes (including stamp duties, pay roll tax and land tax), superannuation, asset protection planning, estate planning; Corporations Act matters and commercial law matters.

Keynote Speaker

Greg is a regular speaker on taxation, estate planning, superannuation and business structuring issues for legal and accounting groups. Greg has spoken on behalf of the Law Society of New South Wales, UNSW, the Taxation Institute of Australia and the College of Law. Greg also speaks to discussion groups of members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and CPA groups and other private groups.
