Maria Bongiorno is our Special Counsel. She has been practising for over 25 years, establishing her own firm in 2001 and experience in public and private sector roles.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Law and is admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia. She is an Associate member of the Tax Institute of Australia.

Maria practices in the areas of property, commercia litigation, tax controversy/disputes, Goods and Services Tax, Compulsory Acquisition, Insolvency, and commercial work. She also has experience at a senior level in the Commonwealth public service in taxaition, insolvency, litigation and GST advice and compliance.

Maria has acted on some major building disputes, compulsory government acquisitions and significant insolvency disputes including challenging the validity of the Australian Taxation Office Director Penalty Notices.
